Barbara Z. Dawson, Ed.D. TWIS President and Executive ​Director

 

Dr. Dawson is a retired High School Principal and a former Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the East Side Union High School District located inSan Jose, California.  She has resided in San Jose for 43 years along with her late husband of 45 years, Mr. Archie M. Dawson, Sr. In reference to her education, she holds the following degrees: (1) a Bachelor of Science in English and Library Science, (2) a Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling, (3) a Master of Arts in Supervision, and (4) a Doctoral Degree in Educational Management. Dr. Dawson is the mother of two sons, the grandmother of five grandchildren, and she served as a professional educator for forty years before her retirement. ​Presently, she is an Educational Consultant and a designer and facilitator of motivational seminars, and she is also the Director of the TrueVine Baptist Church's Sunday School as well as one of the instructors for an Adult Bible Study Class.  It is evident to countless people that Dr. Dawson demonstrates a passion for teaching, encouraging, and helping others in various ways. She is looking forward, along with the TWIS (Turning Weaknesses into Strengths) Services Team, to implement this much needed project to empower ex-offenders to become independent, responsible and productive citizens.
